In today’s conversation, I have the pleasure of talking with Egidia from Gigi and Co, who shares her insightful journey of transforming her passion for fashion into a flourishing online business, while juggling multiple family businesses and personal responsibilities. She delved into the challenges of rebranding, sourcing products without a traditional storefront, and the aspirations to launch her own clothing label, offering timeless everyday basics.
Egidia’s smart adaptation to the changing world around us—exemplifies how online businesses can remain fluid, effectively reducing return rates and addressing the challenges of selling event wear online. That it’s not just about the passion but also about strategic planning and leveraging the right resources.
Egidia, a tenacious and passionate individual, harbours a deep-seated love for the world of fashion. With years of experience tucked under her belt from her earlier stint in retail, she longed to return to the industry that had captured her heart. However, Egidia’s vision for her venture in fashion was distinct; she aspired to create something of her own, a project that reflected her taste and dedication but remained on a scale she could personally oversee.
Her aim was not to build an empire, but rather to craft a space within the industry that allowed her to stay rooted in her passion without overshadowing her other priorities. Egidia valued her family and the main business that secured their livelihood, often referring to it as their “bread and butter”. This boutique endeavour was a medium for Egidia to keep her “foot in the fashion door”, to stay connected with the dynamic evolution of styles she admired so much. Through balance and personal oversight, she sought to make her mark, contributing to the fashion conversation while maintaining the warmth and presence in her home life that was so vital to her.
