Not too long ago...
I was living in Dubai with my husband and two young children, feeling completely burnt out from my corporate job. I craved more freedom, more flexibility, and a business that actually lit me up—but at the time, I had no idea where to begin.
Then, on a trip back to Australia, I noticed women wearing beautiful, floaty kimonos—the kind you throw over swimmers and instantly feel effortlessly stylish in. That moment sparked something. I couldn't stop thinking about how I could create my own take on this versatile piece, blending the relaxed coastal vibe of Australian fashion with the global influences around me in Dubai.
That spark became iland co., and I started selling my kimonos at local weekend markets. The response was incredible—they flew off the racks. I knew I was onto something special.
But I was still juggling a demanding full-time job and spending my weekends at markets. It was exhausting. I couldn’t keep up the pace—and I didn’t want to miss out on my kids growing up while trying to build something better for them.
So, I launched an online store, thinking that was the answer. I had the product, the branding, the photos… I was ready for sales to roll in.
And then—nothing. Not a single order.
I was crushed. After all the effort, all the hope, all the investment—it was radio silence.
Then I realised ...
A beautiful product and a website aren’t enough.
If I wanted my brand to grow, I needed people to find it, want it, and buy it. That meant learning how to drive traffic, convert visitors, and keep customers coming back.
So I got to work.
I immersed myself in learning everything I could about marketing, sales, and building an online brand that actually worked. I took courses, hired mentors, tried everything. Some things flopped. Others moved the needle. Slowly but surely, I found what worked.
