Today I am sharing a cautionary tale about house painting. No, I have not shifted my focus to become a renovation podcast! Inside this house improvement story there is a lesson that relates to business. Tune in to hear more.
Four years ago, my husband loudly declared that he was going to paint the entire outside of our house. Now this announcement had me perplexed because my husband is no house painter – he is a plumber! And when I questioned whether this was a job he could, er even wanted to achieve, he told me: “I am not paying somebody else to do this job when I am perfectly capable of doing it myself.”

Well, I probably don’t need to tell you how the house painting ended. Let me just say – when my husband declared himself finished, there was still a lot of work left to do. He had thought that, because he could open a tin of paint, he could complete the work. And by the end of the process he was wishing he had never begun!
