Starting your own online business, Part 1 – do I really have what it takes?

How to start an Ecommerce Business

Starting your own online business - the good, the bad and the ugly, - do I really have what it takes?

Welcome to my blog!

If you're here to learn more about starting your own online business, I can't wait to help you get started. I plan to use this space to share my experiences, advice, plus some helpful tips and tricks to get you ready to take that first step down the road to successful entrepreneurship.
But first, are you ready?

I mean, do you know what you're getting into here?

Like anything else worth doing in life, launching and running your own successful online business has its pros and cons. There are parts that are so amazing you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner — and there are things about it that will have you tearing your hair out, too.

That's why I'm opening my blog with a three-part series about the good, the bad, and the ugly of starting your own online business. For starters, we'll tackle the good (the fun part!).

Welcome to Your Incredible New Life

So what's the good part about running your own online business?

Freedom.

That one word covers just about all of the perks, but until you've experienced it for yourself, it's hard to know just how much that one little word will mean in your life. To help flesh out the idea of what total freedom can do for you, check out this list:

Make Your Own Schedule:

When you run your own online business from home, there's no more battling rush hour traffic or sitting in boring meetings — and you never have to set your alarm clock again (unless you want to). If you're a morning person, go ahead and get up with the sun. Night owls, you can run your online business in the wee hours if you like. And vacation days? It's totally up to you.

Spend More Time With Your Family:

I was really struck by a recent article about the top five regrets people have on their deathbeds: So many people wish they hadn't chosen work over family. Life is way too short to spend it away from your loved ones. If you've ever felt like you're missing your kids' childhoods because you're always at the office, working from home can be a godsend.

Showcase Your Talents:

If you've ever been stuck at a job where your boss doesn't listen to your opinions and ideas, you know what it's like to feel creatively stifled. When you're running the show by yourself, you get to stretch and grow, using all of your skills to their fullest — and you never have to ask permission or get approval to do it.

Pick Up and Move:

One of the biggest benefits of running your own home business is its portability. Want to take a month-long journey to the other side of the world? The magic of the internet lets you do that — just bring your laptop with you, and you can work anywhere. This has been especially important to me personally, and it's a big reason entrepreneurship is a great option for expat women all over the world.

Enjoy Full Creative Freedom:

You know how they say, "If you can dream it, you can do it"? It's totally true, and when you work for yourself, you can let your creativity soar to new heights. If you like coming up with new ideas and designing your own way of doing things, you'll love running your own online business — every decision you make is a chance to let your own creative style shine through!

Start an Ecommerce Business The Joys of your our Own Online Business

All of that freedom brings a whole lot of happiness, which is the whole point of running your own company. You'll never feel more powerful and in charge of your own destiny than the day, you finally decide to launch that website and announce to the world that you're open for business. Your start-up doesn't have to be big — an Etsy shop, consultancy, or some freelance gig work all count — but one of the biggest returns you make will be the sheer joy that comes from stepping up and finally doing that thing you've always wanted to do.

And don't forget: Going to work in your pyjamas can have a pretty big impact on your quality of life, too!
