A lack of consistent, quality daily visits (traffic) is the problem more often than not.
Today I’m unpacking how you can get clear on EXACTLY how much traffic you need each day in order to meet your sales goals. Let’s get started.

Today I’m chatting about daily website visitors and how many you really need in order to meet your sales goals.
After 6+ years of coaching other online store owners, AND running my own eComm store for 9 years, I know that traffic aka website visitors is the lifeblood of an online store. No traffic = no sales, it’s as simple as that.
But not all traffic is the same. There is cold traffic versus warm traffic, there is higher quality traffic that comes from organic searches, recommendations or returning customers, and there is lesser quality traffic that might come from a ‘traffic’ campaign in Facebook or a bot (the horror!).
But lack of traffic is more often than not the biggest challenge online store owners face BUT they don’t always realise it’s their biggest issue. Online store owners often assume it’s their products, prices, website or a thousand other things
So how much traffic do YOU need each day to meet your sales goals?
Well, that depends on a few factors.
What is your average order value?
What is your average conversion rate?
And HOW much sales/revenue do you want to make each day?
These metrics will guide you as to how many daily visitors you need.
Let’s break this down so more.
On average 1%- 2% of website visitors (aka traffic) will actually buy from you… For the sake of easy calculations let’s call it 1%. That means for every 100 targeted visitors coming to your site each day, you can expect around 1 person to buy… which isn’t a lot right? 😳
Now let’s say your average order value is $100 and you would like to make $2,000 a day in sales.
You would need 20 sales a day.
Now we are saying your conversion rate is 1% so in order to have 20 visitors purchase from you, you will need to attract 2,000 website visitors a day. And I can tell you from first-hand experience, 2,000 a day is no easy feat.
So how do we drive traffic to our stores?
There are a number of different ways and as mentioned, some produce different quality of traffic and some methods are easier than others.
Organic traffic refers to website visitors who discover and visit an eCommerce business through non-paid, natural search engine results or other organic sources.
Paid traffic, on the other hand, involves visitors who arrive at an eCommerce website through paid advertising campaigns, such as pay-per-click (PPC) ads or social media ads.
Let’s talk about the main ways:
It’s important we use a combination of both organic and paid traffic strategies, but if you need to increase traffic FAST, paid traffic strategies are my recommendation. Paid ads such as Facebook and Instagram allow you to send targeted traffic to your website and quickly and are the easiest lever to pull in your business when you need to up your daily visitors.
